MSI Wind My Opinion

After having my MSI Wind for nearly a week now, I have concluded that it is a good purchase. It may not be a top name brand, despite the company MSI being more well know every day. From it's glossy lid, to the brilliant on board software, I love it! And for £200 it was a very good bargain(£200 is about, not exactly $170). Its got wifi, bluetooth, 1.2 mp webcam, large screen, microphone, 1gb ram, 120gb hard drive and load more!

The keyboard is a brilliant size, the entire thing is light weight, in fact my laptop bag is heavier than the laptop! so if you see one for £200, I say grab it before they all sell out. (mine was last in stock!)

HP buys Palm

Its big news over in America at the moment, but the computer giant HP has bought Palm. So what’s next? Well, we are to expect the HP tablet that was abandoned in late April to be re-instated and running Web OS (pale pre os). Also HP are set to make business orientated phones that integrate with their laptop range, not sure how though, maybe wireless syncing.

Backup All Your Files

Sorry, this post was removed because as I later found the software was from a un-reliable source.

My Intensions for my new MSI Wind?

So my new laptop is an MSI Wind, and I love it so much though don’t want to muck it up. So I am going to use my big main machine for trying applications or hard core video editing. But leave my laptops software list the same and just use it for iTunes, pictures, e-mail, tv, blogging, that kind of stuff. I also want to start writing more, maybe just stories or keep on blogging but I don’t know yet.

WOW! A laptop

So for my birthday I got a MSI Wind U100, running Windows XP, 1GB ram and 120GB hard drive which runs really fast. And so my first applications that I downloaded were essential ones. And I am going to run though them now…MS Office 2007, Windows Live Suite, Skype, Google Chrome and iTunes.

Best iPhone Apps Of The Week

1.Stanza-Brilliant iBooks app, not the official but has lots of free books unlike the official.
2. WhatsApp-Cool messenger client, that has push notifications.
3.Rope 'n' Fly 2-Addictive game where you swing a man like Spider Man across buildings.
4.Riddim ribbon-Tilt the iPhone to keep the ball on track and the music will play, flick up and you can get brilliant remixes.
5. Rolando-Cute and fun game where you guide small balls to the end of the level.

Oprea Mini is now Oprea Tiny

As expected I downloaded the new Oprea mini browser for the iPhone and found the perfromance to be slow when loading web pages, the menus however were fast and had nice animations. I found the bars at the top and bottom to be too big, and take up more of the screen than Safari. Nice try, but perhaps these issues will be solved in a later version?

No Posts!

Sorry I've been busy, more on the way!

Swoopo

Just reading my windows magazine, when I came across an ad for swoopo.co.uk. I had heard of this before, but don't know where, Turns out, it is electronic goods auction site selling 13" Mac Book Pros for 20 UK pounds (sorry couldn't do the sign, using a US keyboard). HTC HD2s for 7.64, iPhones for 20 and (drumroll) 42" TVs for a jaw dropping 16.22.

The downside is, I don't know how reliable, I hate ebay because the goods are always damaged, not worth it or just don't turn up. Also another thing worth investigating is postage, will it be a 2.00 (pounds) item 150.00 delivery?

Check it out at www.swoopo.com

iPhone OS 4.0 WOW!

Its that time again that Apple releases a new iPhone OS update, and not just a minor one, a huge improvement. You can finally multi-task, just double tap the home button and a bar of open apps appear. You can also use some of the new features on the iPad on the iPhone and iPod Touch, such as, bluetooth keyboards, iBooks and custom wallpapers on the home screen, which many jailbreakers will be familiar with.

Another jailbreaking favourite, setting up folders. All of this should be available in the summer of 2010.

OpenSource Software

My last post was an introduction to open source software, if you Google some of the below applications, you should find some quite useful!

Browsers: Firefox, Google Chrome, Opera, Sea Monkey
E-Mail: Thunderbird, Live Mail
Messenger: Pidgin, AMSN, Skype
Music Player: Win AMP, Songbird, Real
Music Editor: Audacity, Wave Pad
Video Player: Real, VLC, GOM
Video Editor: Wax, Live Movie Maker, Video Spin
Picture Viewer: Cornice, Live Photo Gallery
Picture Editor: GIMP, Inkscape
Office Suite: Open Office

OpenSource

Why pay for Microsoft Office, Photoshop or alike when you can get alternatives for free, with OpenSource software! Open source means the source code (programming behind software) is open and free to use. If you are a programmer you can edit the software but best of all, anyone can use it.

Firefox is a very famous example, if you've been using computers for any length of time you've probably heard of it. When you turn your computer on, to access the internet you most likely click on Internet Explorer on a PC or Safari on a Mac. This is all fine, but did you know you can get alternatives. Firefox, Chrome, Sea Monkey, Opera, Flash Peak, Avant, Flock and many more!

If these names sound familiar, that's because in Europe, Microsoft recently rolled out its browser choice with lots of options. This was following a company suing Microsoft for mis-leading customers into thinking Internet Explorer was the only browser.
